2026 Volkswagen Tiguan and Tayron upgraded already

The new VolkswagenTiguan and Tayron were only just launched in Australia in May and September respectively, but that hasn’t stopped the German brand announcing a number of model year 2026 (MY26) upgrades just a handful of months later.

Chief among them is the addition of Volkswagen Turning Assistant 2.0, which is now standard across the Tiguan mid-size SUV range and the related Tayron large SUV that replaced the Tiguan Allspace.

Turning Assistant 2.0 enhances collision avoidance capability by being able to detect and react to oncoming traffic that is about to turn towards the vehicle, in addition to detecting and braking when the driver turns across oncoming traffic that’s driving straight ahead (as before).

In addition, new aero covers are now also standard for the 20-inch ‘Leeds’ alloy wheels on the Tiguan 195TSI R-Line, bringing them into line with the wheels on both the Golf R-Line and Touareg R-Line.

However, in a move that Volkswagen says is designed to “further enhance the ride comfort of MY26 Tiguan 110TSI Life and 110TSI Elegance”, these variants now downsize from the previously standard 19-inch wheels to smaller 17-inch ‘Venezia’ and 18-inch ‘Napoli’ alloy wheels respectively.

Finally for MY26, all Tiguan Elegance and R-Line vehicles will come with illuminated VW emblems at both the front and rear for the first time.
