7 January 2025: More more more Winter 2025 anime I plan to watch
I do enjoy giant hammers.
Two of the anime I plan to watch during the Winter 2025 season made the cutoff because I liked their trailers. Guild no Uketsukejou desu ga, Zangyou wa Iya nanode Boss wo Solo Toubatsu Shiyou to Omoimasu (I May Be a Guild Receptionist, but I’ll Solo Any Boss to Clock Out on Time) sounds like the sort of gag that would run out of steam after a couple episodes, but its trailer had enough verve to make me optimistic about the show. Comparisons to Konosuba are premature at this stage (Takahashi Rie’s presence aside), but I’m hopeful Girumasu will offer a similar sort of fun viewing experience.
I also enjoy giant hats.
Sentai Red Isekai de Boukensha ni Naru (The Red Ranger Becomes an Adventurer in Another World) seems to be isekai nonsense, but I at least enjoy the idea of genre crossovers as a gimmick. The trailer suggests to me that red ranger guy will remain true to his idiom. I don’t know if the series is likely to remain entertaining for its entire run, but I at least think it sounds like a fun idea even though I don’t watch tokusatsu/sentai shows.
She doesn’t even have a giant hammer or giant hat!
I thought for sure I was done with Unnamed Memory given how increasingly disappointed I was with the series following its favorable first impression. Maybe it didn’t literally get worse with each episode, but it sure didn’t get better. But then the final episode of the first season did something unexpected, so now it’s dragged me back in, at least enough to give Unnamed Memory Act.2 a try. I’m reasonably sure the second season will cover all of the remaining source material, so I at least expect an actual conclusion to the series. What I don’t know is if I’m willing to stick with it until the end if it ends up no better than the first season.
