Stock Market Closing Bell: The Indian equity markets ended Tuesday’s session in the red, with benchmark indices giving up early gains to close lower for the second consecutive day.
The BSE Sensex fell 297 points, or 0.36 per cent, to settle at 82,029.98, while the Nifty 50 slipped 81.85 points, or 0.32 per cent, to 25,145.50.
Weak global cues and continued foreign fund outflows weighed on investor sentiment, keeping markets under pressure throughout the day.

Nifty Sectoral Performance
Sectoral performance reflected the cautious mood, with PSU banks, metals, and consumer durables emerging as the biggest laggards.
The Nifty PSU Bank index declined 1.52 per cent, while Nifty Metal dropped nearly 1 per cent, and Nifty Consumer Durables fell 1.08 per cent.
Other sectors, such as media, pharma, and oil & gas, also closed in negative territory.
On the upside, select blue-chip stocks like Tech Mahindra, ICICI Bank, and Hindustan Unilever managed modest gains, offering some respite to investors.

Banking and financial services remained under moderate pressure, with Nifty Bank down 0.23 per cent and Nifty Financial Services slipping 0.21 per cent.
Auto stocks also saw minor declines, with the Nifty Auto index closing 0.22 per cent lower, despite some resilience in marquee names like Maruti.
Meanwhile, IT stocks were broadly flat, with Nifty IT down 0.33 per cent, as select gains in Tech Mahindra and HCL Tech were offset by losses in TCS (-1.60 per cent) and Infosys (-0.33 per cent).
Top Gainers and Losers
Among individual stocks, Bajaj Finance was the worst performer on the Sensex, dropping 1.87 per cent, followed by BEL (-1.76 per cent), Tata Steel (-1.71 per cent), and Trent (-1.68 per cent).

ITC, Maruti, and Ultracemco also ended lower by 0.65 per cent, 0.55 per cent, and 0.84 per cent, respectively.
On the positive side, Tech Mahindra gained 1.25 per cent, ICICI Bank added 0.36 per cent, Hindustan Unilever rose 0.31 per cent, and Power Grid ended 0.26 per cent higher.
Market Indicies
Broader market indices mirrored the cautious trend. The Nifty Next 50 fell 0.53 per cent, while midcap and smallcap indices also ended lower, with the Nifty Midcap 50 down 0.92 per cent and Nifty Smallcap 100 falling 0.88 per cent.
The Nifty 500 index, which tracks the performance of the top 500 stocks, declined 0.48 per cent, indicating weakness across a wide set of companies.
