US President Donald Trump said on Monday that he stopped major wars, including a “nuclear” war between India and Pakistan. The war between India and Pakistan was at the next level, where seven jets were already shot down in an intense conflict, said the US president.
This marks at least the seventh time when Trump tried to take credit for establishing peace between India and Pakistan.
Emphasising the importance of peace for trade, Trump claimed to have given settled the conflict by proposing that both sides had 24 hours to settle their conflict if they wanted to do business.

Now, there is no war going on, said Trump, claiming to have avoided a catastrophic nuclear event.

Trump also said that he had used this approach on several occasions, in yet another attempt at taking credit for being the peacemaker.
“I used trade and whatever else I had (to establish peace this way),” Trump said.

Trump also claimed to “have stopped all these wars”, including “a big one” between India and Pakistan.
“That was raging,” said Trump, claiming that seven jets were shot down during the conflict.

“I said: ‘You want to trade? We are not doing any trade or anything with you if you keep fighting, you’ve got 24 hours to settle it.’ They said: ‘Well, there’s no more war going on.’ I used that on numerous occasions,” said Trump.
Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated in May after India launched its retaliatory action under ‘Operation Sindoor’ to target terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir with professionalism and precision. India’s operation was in response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack in Kashmir that left 26 civilians dead.
The flare-up lasted from May 7 to May 10 wherein India successfully intercepted Pakistan military’s attempts to target Indian soil, before India agreed to cease fire at Pakistan’s request.
Trump has since repeatedly claimed credit for brokering the truce. India has maintained that the ceasefire was agreed upon through DGMO-level talks between New Delhi and Islamabad, and not due to mediation by the US.
