Good Smile Company has announced a temporary suspension on shipments to the United States through its online store, citing Japan Post’s recent suspension of certain international mail services. Shipments from their store will be temporarily suspended beginning on August 27, 2025.
The decision follows a July 30 executive order from the U.S. government titled “Termination of De Minimis Treatment for All Countries.” Beginning August 29, goods imported for personal use will no longer qualify for duty-free entry. U.S. Customs and Border Protection also introduced new requirements for customs deposits and declarations, but implementation details remain unclear.
As a result, Japan Post has suspended acceptance of small packets, parcels, and EMS merchandise addressed to the United States. Only letters, documents, and gifts valued under US$100 will continue to be processed.
Good Smile Company confirmed that all shipments to the U.S., including the mainland and overseas territories, are affected. The company is reviewing alternative shipping methods and plans to resume service once a viable solution is in place.
