Halo 2 and Halo 3 Remakes Reportedly Coming to PS5

It’s starting to look like Halo Studios has a clear roadmap for where the Master Chief franchise is headed next—and this time, it’s expanding beyond Xbox.

With Halo: Campaign Evolved confirmed for PS5 next year, the studio has already made it clear that the future of the series will include PlayStation platforms. But that’s just the beginning of a much larger plan.

According to reports from the reliable fan account Halo Leaks, which previously revealed accurate details about Campaign Evolved, the studio is preparing full remakes of both Halo 2 and Halo 3. These remakes are said to feature modernised gameplay mechanics, including new movement options like sprinting and potentially updated combat systems to better fit today’s gaming standards.

“No ETA on when these could be announced,” Halo Leaks posted on X (formerly Twitter). “The same source that told me about Campaign Evolved and its mechanics also confirmed that Halo 2 and Halo 3 are being remade.”

In follow-up posts, the account added that Halo 7 is also currently in development—and unlike the remakes, this one will include a competitive multiplayer component.

This suggests a coordinated long-term strategy: first, reintroduce the legendary original trilogy through high-quality remakes on PS5, and then follow up with a new mainline entry designed around modern multiplayer experiences.

The source also mentioned that the studio’s goal is to unify the community under one multiplayer ecosystem rather than splitting players across different games.

“Halo Studios wants everyone to play Halo 7’s multiplayer,” the leaker explained. “They don’t want multiple versions competing with each other.”

Given current gaming trends, it wouldn’t be surprising if this multiplayer mode launched as a free-to-play live service—a model that would make it accessible to a wider audience while keeping players engaged through ongoing updates.

Of course, much of this roadmap could evolve over time; we’re likely looking at several years—possibly a decade—of development plans. Still, if accurate, it paints a compelling picture of how Halo could re-establish itself as a premier cross-platform franchise.
