REVIEW – I’ve tested quite a few electric skateboards here at The Gadgeteer, and it’s been a blast re-learning my high school longboard skills again while cruising around town. For short rides I’ve really been loving the Uditer Pixel Mini skateboard, but we have some great longer trails near us that I’ve been itching to ride again that the Mini wouldn’t be great on, so when MEEPO reached out to see if I wanted to review their Meepo Voyager X Limited electric skateboard, I happily accepted.

What is it?
The Meepo Voyager X Limited electric skateboard is an enthusiast-grade electric skateboard, with powerful motors and a beltless gear system that results in tons of instant torque and acceleration. This is a board for someone that has spent some time on a cheaper less powerful skateboard and is now wanting to go faster and farther (or off-road).

Design and features
The Meepo Voyager X Limited electric skateboard has a fairly typical electric skateboard profile with a battery hump near the front and the motors and ESC bump near the rear of the board.
The skateboard ships with hard 90mm wheels that will give you the highest top speed, but I’d recommend switching to the included Cyclone 107S wheels if you’re riding on anything other than completely smooth pavement. These hard and smooth wheels tend to have you feeling every bump and crack on the road, while the rubber larger Cyclones give a much softer and smoother ride without much of a hit on acceleration and top speed.
The deck is about 10 inches wide where each foot will go, while allowing the trucks and wheels clearance to turn.
At the back of the board, you can see the metal casing protecting the gear system that transfers power from the motor to the wheel (one on each side). This should be more reliable than belt-drive skateboards (which are notorious for breaking belts under harsh conditions or with hard riding), while keeping the advantages of a geared transfer of power to the wheels.
The front truck has no motors, but that lets us see the reverse kingpin truck, which offers great stability at high speeds while still allowing pretty decent turning and carving control.
The entire deck has a pretty pronounced concave design, which makes control very easy while riding. A built-in LED lighting strip wraps entirely around the board with protective caps on nose and tail. This lighting is quite bright at night and dusk/dawn, and can even be seen in bright daylight.
The large Samsung battery is protected under the front end of the board.
Above you can see the underside of the rear half of the board. The power button is easy to reach by simply feeling under the board.

Finally, the included remote is one of the nicest ones I’ve used, except for the feel of the external housing. The screen is bright and changes color based on which of the four drive modes you’re in (so you don’t accidentally start off in a high-power mode when you’re not expecting it). There are quite a few advanced functions like cruise control, customizable “gear” settings where you set top speed and acceleration for each gear mode, and control of the LED lighting. Haptic feedback is crisp and helpful when braking and accelerating.
Assembly, Installation, Setup
The Meepo Voyager X Limited electric skateboard can be ridden right out of the box (as I immediately did as soon as I got it).
Charging is as simple as plugging in the included 300 watt charger that can fully charge the board in just over 2 hours from empty.
Before you start doing higher speed or off road runs, you’ll probably want to adjust the trucks, and you might want to swap out the stock wheels for something else depending on your riding style and conditions. The included Cyclone 107S wheels are perfect for the stuff I’ll be doing like paved trails with some decent bumps and cracks and some occasional gravel/dirt stuff. Swapping the wheels out is easy using the included T-Tool. The trucks are adjusted just like any other skateboard: tighten them to stiffen up the steering (good if you’re heavier or if you get speed wobbles at your desired speed) and loosen them for more steering control. They were perfect for my riding skill out of the box, so I let them be.
I love the look of the Meepo Voyager X Limited electric skateboard even more with the bigger Cyclone rubber wheels.
Performance
I did multiple long rides on the Meepo Voyager X Limited electric skateboard over a variety of terrain and can confidently say that it’s the best board I’ve had the pleasure of riding so far. With the bigger Cyclone wheels installed I had no issues with cracks or bumps on my rides, and my legs felt a lot better than rides on most other boards. I was able to push it to nearly 30 mph with zero speed wobbles, and with the correct protective gear and safe trails with good visibility it’s a blast to zoom along at those speeds (I added a full face helmet to my elbow/knee/wrist pad setup specifically for this board).
The acceleration, even in “gear 2” is instant and strong, requiring a light touch on the controls if you don’t want to go flying onto your tailbone. I did manage to throw myself off the board once by applying too much throttle, but luckily, I was able to hop off and just run to a stop. Be careful until you get some hours under your belt with this one!
The hill climbing on this board is fantastic, even the steepest hills in my city were no match for it. The same hills have brought weaker scooters and skateboards to a crawl or even required me to push/walk on my own, but with the Meepo Voyager X Limited electric skateboard, I could maintain my speed or even accelerate up all of them.
Final thoughts
The Meepo Voyager X Limited electric skateboard is my new favorite cruising skateboard, especially for trails that require a longer range. Everything about it feels premium and well-built (except for the cheap-feeling remote). I look forward to years of riding on this one! I would recommend this to anyone who has an entry level electric skateboard that they are outgrowing (first time riders will want to use caution and stay in gear 1 until they get a good feel for the board).
What I like about the Meepo Voyager X Limited skateboard
- More power than I can handle, acceleration is thrilling and hill climb ability is phenomenal
- Gear drive system means instant torque
- Great range in the lower drive modes
- Good value-for-price compared to similar gear-driven all-terrain capable boards
- Bright light strip is very visible in dangerous dawn/dusk and night conditions
What needs to be improved?
- Could be too much for a beginner, only suitable for intermediate/advanced riders. If this had been my first board, I probably would have at the very least a bruised tailbone by now.
- Remote feels cheap compared to the rest of the components, though it controls nice and the haptic feedback is good. It just needs a rubberized coating or texture to feel more premium.
- The wheels installed seem to be mismatched to the board’s capabilities, I think most people would prefer the included larger all-terrain wheels over these hard smaller original wheels.
