Naver’s Webtoon Launches First-Ever Healing Camp To Foster Creator Well-Being

Naver Webtoon has introduced a new initiative aimed at supporting the mental and emotional well-being of its creators. As part of its broader “Webtoon With” program, the company recently organized a two-day, one-night healing camp designed to help artists recharge after completing their series.

According to the official website, it was held from Oct 29 to 30, and brought together 27 creators who had finished their works this year. More than half of the participants were first-time creators who debuted and concluded their series on Naver Webtoon.

The retreat was created in response to the emotional and physical strain associated with serialization. Participants were offered opportunities to reflect on their experiences and exchange insights with peers in a rejuvenating environment.

Organizers said the initiative was built to ease psychological fatigue, counter isolation, and promote healthier long-term creative habits. Activities included “Life Forest Story” workshop led by coaching specialists, aromatherapy sessions focused on stress relief, and a special “support book” experience featuring encouraging messages from readers. Some creators described the experience as a meaningful reset as they began considering their next works.

Among the attendees was Harin, creator of Hello, My Collections, who credited Webtoon staff with helping them navigate emotional challenges during their debut run. Harin noted that the retreat gave them space to regain balance before moving toward their next project.

While working on my debut series, I was able to rely on my editor when I felt emotionally overwhelmed or had concerns about my work, which helped me complete it. I believe this program, which supports creators’ emotional recovery, will be a great help in preparing for my next project.

Another participant, Nimni of I Don’t Love You!, said various Webtoon programs have contributed to a more supportive creative atmosphere.

Programs like this, as well as services and events such as the ‘Perfect Pick!’ recommendation feature and the epilogue party, show Naver Webtoon’s ongoing efforts to build a better creative environment.

Since launching its first regular health checkup system for creators in 2014, Naver Webtoon has steadily expanded its welfare programs. The company has also implemented paid leave policies, formalized rest periods between serializations, and introduced support for family-related occasions.

Naver Webtoon’s Vice President of Korean Services, Chae Yu-ki, said the company plans to continue developing programs that prioritize creator welfare.

“Naver Webtoon believes that creating a creative environment where writers can create great works is of utmost importance,” and added, “We will continue to actively support writers so that they can continue their creative activities as well as ensure the success of their works through new systems and programs.”

In 2024, the platform began backing fan meetings that connect creators directly with their readers, such as those held for Your Throne creator Sam and The Year We Turned 29 creator Subak-yang, to encourage artistic motivation and fan engagement. Other ongoing initiatives include a “New Creator Orientation” for debuting artists and “Epilogue Parties” celebrating series completion.
