One-Punch Man Breaks Guinness World Record At Anime Expo 2025

The One-Punch Man franchise made history at Anime Expo 2025 by breaking the Guinness World Record for “the most people performing a ‘One-Punch Man’ Maji Naguri/Serious Punch.”

A total of 1,107 fans participated in the synchronized punch during a special panel held at the event on July 5, 2025.

This took place during the One-Punch Man‘s panel, which featured appearances by cast and staff from both the Japanese and English versions of the anime.

Among the guests were Makoto Furukawa, the Japanese voice of Saitama; Max Mittelman, the English voice of Saitama; Greg Chun, the English voice of Garou; manga editor Toshihiro Oshima; and anime producer Chinatsu Matsui.

Furukawa led the crowd, shouting the signature attack call. Fans responded by striking the pose and yelling “Maji Naguri!” together.

The challenge was organized to celebrate two major milestones: the anime’s upcoming 10th anniversary this October and the long-awaited broadcast of season 3. The goal was to break the Guinness World Record for “the most people performing a ‘One-Punch Man’ Maji Naguri/Serious Punch.”

According to the series’ official website, the record attempt was carefully organized, with a designated zone at the venue set up for participants.

Prior to the punch, attendees practiced the pose and rehearsed the Japanese pronunciation, ensuring the effort met Guinness World Records standards. Once Furukawa gave the cue, the synchronized punch was completed without a hitch, followed by loud cheers and applause across the hall.

One Punch Man season 3 will start airing in October 2025.

The third season is being animated by Studio J.C. Staff.

The first season of the anime, produced by Madhouse, was broadcast in Japan from October to December 2015. A second season, produced by J.C. Staff, was broadcast from April to July 2019.

One-Punch Man is a Japanese superhero manga series created by One. It tells the story of Saitama, a superhero who, because he can defeat any opponent with a single punch, grows bored from a lack of challenge. One wrote the original webcomic manga version in early 2009.

A digital manga remake began serializing on Shueisha’s Tonari no Young Jump website in June 2012. Written by One and illustrated by Yusuke Murata, its chapters are periodically compiled and published into individual tankobon volumes.

As of November 2024, 32 volumes have been released.

In North America, Viz Media has licensed the remake manga for English language release and has serialized it in its Weekly Shonen Jump digital magazine.
