Last weekend in Nanyuki, Arkadios Motorsport celebrated a proud milestone — 3rd place in Group S at the Mini Classic Rally, a gruelling 1,000km test of skill, endurance, and preparation. This podium finish wasn’t just a trophy moment; it was the culmination of a year-long, strategically managed motorsport project.
When Arkadios Motorsport began this journey, the objective was clear: build capacity, gather data, and understand our limits both mechanical and human. We committed to a full year of rallying, tackling everything from the legendary Safari Rally to national autocross events, knowing that every race was a sprint toward experience and a marathon toward mastery.

1. Scaling vs Pivoting in Motorsport In the business world, there’s a constant debate: Do you scale what’s working, or pivot to something new? Motorsport offers a front-row seat to that decision. After a year of running our current setup, we now face the same question: Should we upgrade the car and push for more performance, or change direction entirely? Scaling, in motorsport terms, means keeping the winning formula but improving it piece by piece better suspension, stronger driveline components, upgraded brakes to make the same platform perform at a higher level.
Pivoting would mean changing the entire vehicle or class, starting a new learning curve. Our Mini Classic results suggest we’re ready to scale first. The car has proven reliable under extreme conditions; our team has mastered its quirks; and our processes are fine-tuned. Now, by investing in better parts and technology, we can test how far this proven package can take us next season.
2. Motorsport Meets Project Management We are still persuing excellence and success, but we also know it cannot be accidental has ton be managed like a project from the start. We set clear goals for 2024: gain experience, build the team, and complete every race. Each event had a budget, resource plan, and risk assessment. We executed with discipline, adapting to challenges in real time. After each rally, we reviewed performance, captured lessons, and identified improvements. With a podium in Nanyuki, we’ve validated our foundation.
The rest of the year is about compiling our data, making sense of it, and solving key challenges—including how to better predict engine failure. These insights will guide our decision on scaling the current build or pivoting for next season.
3. Lessons for Business and Sponsors
- Start with a solid MVP: Our “MVP” was a reliable rally car and a motivated
- crew. Collect data before scaling: We’ve tested across terrains to understand true performance.
- Invest strategically: Upgrades will target measurable returns in speed, reliability, and endurance.
4. Partnering with Arkadios Motorsport means joining a team that applies discipline, adaptability, and continuous improvement—principles that drive both motorsport and business success.
