They’re still rocks.

Impressions:

As I weed down the hojillion Sunday shows, I don’t think this is doing enough to hold my attention to make it any further. They look for stuff, find fool’s gold, learn about fool’s gold, then look for gold, learn about gold, learn about weird pressed gold. My eyes were glazed over for most of it, but I guess at least it didn’t jolt me awake through an over-excess of yelling.

For any of the hobby kind of shows to work for me, I prefer to see both some storytelling or at the very least, actual passion for the subject matter instead of superficial sparklies and dry lessons. GA Art Class, for example, was a bunch of gremlins who all knew a ton about art and conveyed their knowledge and passion for it while still being silly gremlins. Or Harukana had a decently told sports drama kind of story while doing volleyball stuff. This is closer to a PBS educational field trip, except with the slight irritation of Ruri oscillating wildly between tantrum and frothing stonelust, though Nagi’s also quite dry as a character. Combined with not even the whiff of an episodic story to speak of, and it’s in one ear, out the other.
